Bible Dictionaries

 

Easton's Bible Dictionary - Easton's Bible Dictionary was authored by Matthew George Easton (1823-1894).

 

Smith's Bible Dictionary - Over 4,500 subjects and proper names are defined and analyzed with corresponding Scripture references. "Smith's Bible Dictionary" has been used by students of the Bible since it's introduction in the 1860's. A trustworthy classic that is more than just a dictionary defining thousands of biblical words.

 

Hitchcock's Bible Names - This dictionary is from "Hitchcock's New and Complete Analysis of the Holy Bible," written by Roswell D. Hitchcock in 1869. It contains more than 2,500 Bible and Bible-related proper names and their meanings.

 

Scripture Alphabet of Animals - Here is a short study on thirty-three animals mentioned in the Bible. Some of the animals have alternate names as we know them today.

John Darby's Synopsis of the Bible

 

IVP New Testament Commentaries

 

John Gill's Exposition of the Bible (New Testament) - He preached in the same church as C. H. Spurgeon over one hundred years earlier. Yet most people today have never heard of John Gill. This is unfortunate, since his works contain priceless gems of information that are found nowhere except in the ancient writings of the Jews. Presented here is a verse by verse exposition of the New Testament.

 

John Wesley's Explanatory Notes (Whole Bible) -John Wesley's commentary on the whole Bible was produced between 1754 and 1765.

 

Matthew Henry - Originally written in 1706, Matthew Henry's six volume Complete Commentary provides an exhaustive look at every verse in the Bible.

 

People's New Testament - Written in 1891 for the novice student of the Bible, this work was prepared with such aids as would enable the common reader to arrive at an understanding of every verse.

 

Robertson's Word Pictures of the New Testament -A.T. Robertson, a renowned scholar of the Greek New Testament, takes through the New Testament, verse by verse, painting word pictures from the Greek to bring to light the words and actions of Jesus and the early Christians.
